Description
- Hematite is an iron mineral widely distributed in the Earth’s solid crust.
It is called hematite from the Greek “blood” because of the color of its powder line, which is characteristically blood red, to the point where the mineral is identified by this alone.
In ancient times warriors believed that if they rubbed a Hematite on their body they would become invulnerable.
The Egyptians carved scarabs on hematite, it was also known to the Cretans, the Mycenaeans, and the ancient Greeks.Hematite seal depicting a lion attacking some large animal. It was found in the palaces of Knossos. It dates from the end of the Neopalatial period, around 1400 BC. and is hosted at the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion. The seals found at Knossos attest to the very high level of Minoan sculpture.
- Tiger’s eye is a translucent variety of quartz, with a golden yellow color.
The interesting feature of this stone is a striated iridescence, which looks like a moving silky sheen. These lines are alternately golden and brown in color and their composition is fibrous croccidolite.
This stone has already been used by ancient civilizations and was considered a gem of great importance. The Egyptians used it to adorn the eyes of statues of deities and it symbolized divine vision.
Ancient Roman soldiers wore a Tiger’s eye engraved with symbols for protection during battle.
It attracts luck as it is considered the stone of luck and wealth as well as abundance in any form.
The stone warms, revitalizes and “burns” negative influences.
